The Don's Gift: Gift #5-Solar Glide Drone

The fifth Don's Gift is now available. Post your news feed request from the Home Page or the Free Gift Page.

Now that the stats were changed on these items, some may find they are useful. We will be getting a defense vehicle for 3X Mastery in Brazil with stats of 105 so this item will soon be obsolete. For now I'm happy to see it helped me.

This time I won't forget to click on 2 news feed requests and you shouldn't either if the item can help your score.

Searching For Don's Gifts

Earlier I told you that Zynga changed the stats on the Don's Gift items that were already released. Because the previous stats sucked, many didn't bother to collect them. You can see from my Inventory History run I didn't go out of my way to get 5 of each item when they were available.

I knew from previous testing that you could still get a gift once it was off the Free Gift Page but I didn't know how long the posts were good for. I still don't have a clear answer but was able to collect 2 Tracker Bikes and 2 Hunter Boots from old requests.

You need to find active daily players in your mafia and scroll their walls. It looks like the Tracker Bike and Hunter Boots posts are still good.

I didn't have any luck with the Triplets. Clicking on the posts produced the message "Sorry, but the Don's patience has its limits. This feed has expired". It's nice that Zynga changed the stats of these items but it's not fair of them to prevent players from getting the older ones. If an item wasn't helpful when it was offered, you can't blame players for not wanting it. If there were a warning that stats could possibly change this would be a different story.

The History Of FHEL

The first thing some players do when they see the acronym FHEL is ask what it stands for. This is the term players in the community adopted when referring to fight loot. It stands for Fight High End Loot. Loot items that could only be obtained through fighting was first introduced into the game on June 15th of 2010. There were 10 items and fighters couldn't have been happier. At the time, the stats were very desirable and fight loot was a big success.

About 6 weeks later, a second generation of fight loot was introduced. The stats were comparable but there were only 4 items. The Super Moderators dubbed this release "Super Loot". The term wasn't popular with players and it never caught on. Instead it was called FHEL2.

The reason most call it FHEL is because Arun labeled it this way in Brawler. Job loot that also dropped in fights was labeled by destination, for example Moscow job loot was called Moscow High End Loot. High End Loot is a phrase that was often used in the trading community and that's what Arun decided to use.

When new fight loot is released, there is often confusion over what it is called. Today's fight loot release was the 10th generation so many call it FHEL10. Others have grouped releases together and include a different number. For example, when the 6th generation of fight loot was released, there were only two items with stats worthy enough to be called high end. Many just grouped these items into the FHEL5 category. I used to called it FHEL51/2. The Inventory Group Spocklet groups the 5th and 6th generation of fight loot in the FHEL5 Tab and the 7th and 8th generations are group under the FHEL7 Tab. This is why the current generation is labeled FHEL8. Whatever players wish to call these groups doesn't really matter. Nobody is right or wrong. These are all terms created by the community and what really matters is how many you have and how many you need.

Below is a chart showing the release dates of each generation of fight loot as well as the highest stats in attack and defense (per group). It's hard to believe that only a year and a half ago we were excited over loot items with stats of 54!

Gift/Crew/Mafia Page Updates

UPDATE: This feature was pulled at the same time the updated ZMC was restored.

Zynga added a new feature to the Free Gift, Crew Request and Mafia Invite Pages. It looks like they took a page out of Team Spockholms book and replicated the Gift Clicker. There is now a "Select Max" button at the bottom of each page.

All you need to do is click on the "Select Max" button and the first 50 names of whichever list you are on will be added to the request queue.  Click the "Send Requests" button and all players will be sent a request. The "Select Max" button will gray out. Refresh the page to repeat the process over and over.

If you want to send more than 50 requests, it's easier to use the Gift Blaster. This will repeat the process for you. Maybe Zynga will add a "Select All" option here and let us send out more than 50 requests at a time. If we have to accept all out gifts at the same time then we should be able to send them all as well.

The New Way Of Gifting by Eike 

Zynga broke the Facebook side of gifting exactly 2 weeks ago and it took some time for us to figure out what they changed. We've tried a lot to give you back the old, perfectly working gifting system where you could just create your gift links, share them with your friends and select those gifts that you want.

As far as we know now, these times are over. We figured out a way to create working gift links, but they only work if that person actually sent you a gift. Now that gift is in your ZMC anyway, so the giftlinks are useless.

The ingame gift sending process is a disaster. Only 50 friends per click, slow responses and annoying FB popups.  Gift receiving is equally annoying. The ZMC is a mess, always jumping up and down causing you to click the wrong buttons and losing gifts and not sending them back.

That is why Team Spockholm created and modified Spocklets to help you with the process of sending and receiving gifts from your friends.

The new tool for sending gifts is the Gift Blaster. You can get it on the Spockholm Beta Page. You can also add it to the toolbar using this code:

You can use it the following way. Start it up and wait until the "Select gift" part is loaded.

Now you can click on "Load Family", "Load Mafia" or add your own list of Facebook IDs.  

You can select the gift you want to send from the drop down menu.

Now press the "Send to all" button and see it amazingly send the selected gift to everybody. Please mind the warning, the gift sending is really painfully slow from Zynga's side.

If the sending process stops, or you press the "Stop"-button, you can always continue to send to the remaining receivers by just pressing start again. This way you can even change the gift type you want to send.

Now watch your mafia sending you gifts back, overflowing your ZMC with requests.

Now, of course you want to accept your gifts, too. That is why we updated the ZMC agent, which can also be found on the Spockholm Beta Page, to allow you to select which gifts to accept.

The ZMC Agent hangs into your Zynga Message Center and allows you to drag and drop the gifts you want, and the gifts you want to ignore. Use the top button to select if you want to use the "Accept Gift and Thank" or the "Accept Gift"-only buttons.

The ZMC agent will then run and accept or ignore your gifts.

If you want to keep your gifts for later, there is a very experimental spocklet on the Spockholm Experimental Page.

Run the "Get Gift Links" Spocklet, and you will get a list of all your gifts links that you can copy for example to a word or google docs file. This way you can accept them later, even if they were overwritten with new ones in the ZMC.

If you click on a gift to accept it, don't be surprised to see only a bunch of characters. The success message is at the end of the mess:

Gift Blaster Coming Very Soon 

Team Spockholm is finishing up beta testing on the Gift Blaster. This script will enable you to send out Free Gifts to your entire mafia in just a few clicks. I'll post instructions once it is released but for now here is a sneak peek.

Simply click the "Send to all" button and watch your requests get sent out 50 at a time.

The end result is a ZMC full of whatever gift you sent. The ZMC Agent has also been updated to post all of your Thank you Gifts.

The Gift Clicker 

Team Spockholm has posted a script that should make sending gifts a lot easier. We all need to come to terms with the fact that the updated to gifting made by Zynga broke the gift links system that many of us are used to using. It's now all about the ZMC. The more gifts you send, the more you will get back. You can send 50 gifts at a time and there is no cap on how many times you can do this. Going to your Send Page and clicking on 50 X's is a pain in the ass. The Gift Clicker will do this for you. This is just a simple script that will click the X in front of 50 mafia members for you. Team Spockholm is already working on more advanced scripts to make the "enhanced gifting" process even easier.

To get started, follow the steps below.

1. Go to the Spockholm Mafia Tools Experimental Page and located the Gift Clicker.

2. Click, drag and drop it in your bookmark toolbar.

Alternatively, you can import this Spocklet to your Spockholm Toolbar. Copy the code below and paste it into the import box.

3.  Go to your Free Gift Page and select the gift you want to send to your mafia. I will use Special Parts in this example.

4.  Click on the "Proceed to Send" button and wait until your Send Gift Page is loaded. If you don't use the Spockholm Toolbar you will need to make sure you are unframed on this page. If you do, you're good to go.

5. Click on Gift Clicker from your bookmark toolbar or the Spockholm Toolbar and wait for it to click 50 people on whichever list you have open. In the example below, I used my Mafia Wars Friends list.

6. Once 50 players have been selected by the Gift Clicker, click on the "Send Requests" button.

7. Click on "Send Requests" from the generated Facebook request.

8.  Repeat steps 3-7 as many times as you want. The more you give, the more you will receive. Keep in mind that you can only send 1 gift to each or your mafia members per day and you can only accept 200 returned gifts per day. The ZMC can only hold 100 gifts at a time. Now just sit back and wait for your return gifts to come rolling in.

I wasn't able to get the Gift Clicker to work in Chrome and have reported it to Team Spockholm. It worked fine in FireFox.

    Our other recent focus's have been on tidying up mafia wars. We started this by re-designing the recently updated mafia wars homepage. We removed the content that was featured in the first roll-out, and replaced the existing content with the Player Updates window, and some quick links, that also showed each NY property, and their respective wait times. To be honest I never tried this script before because I am an old fashion of player who likes to click manually to finish my jobs. But yes I need help to spend my Stamina, I will need a script to help me on this one.
